Tabs no longer automatically unsuspend when viewed #550
Comments
Here is a screenshot of the settings I have for the extension when this is happening: https://www.screencast.com/t/amj4olxPWr |
IMO, this is a significant regression in the functionality that I depend on from this extension. |
is this a duplicate of this issue? #519 |
No, it is happening on all tabs when I click them or when I CTRL+TAB to
switch to them. It used to work great and it was only recently, maybe in
the past month, that I started noticing this. Thanks for looking into it.

<#519>
the latest version fixed a 'bug' where closing a tab would automatically
unsuspend the newly focused one. there are a significant number of people
however, that liked this functionality.
can you confirm if this is the use-case you are encountering, or if it is
happening on all suspended tabs (even when specifically clicked on).

I am unable to recreate this unfortunately. Failing that, perhaps a restart of chrome might fix the issue? |
I updated and restarted Chrome and haven't observed the issue since then, however I can confirm that the 'bug' as you call it in issue #519 is happening for me as well (video). I would prefer tabs always un-suspend when coming into focus, even if due to closing a neighboring tab. Mentally, I am used to seeing the tab reload when it comes into view, and I don't really differentiate between switching to a tab via CTRL+TAB or getting there by closing another, so it always takes me a few seconds to realize it isn't reloading and then I feel less productive. Perhaps you could add a setting where users can decide which way they want this functionality to work. Thanks for your work on this excellent extension! I think this issue can be closed since nobody else has reproduced it and it has gone away for me. |
Thanks for getting back to me :) |
Even with the "automatically unsuspend when viewed" setting on in the extension settings, tabs in Chrome latest no longer un-suspend when viewed - now I have to click in the document body to have it unsuspend. Observed in Chrome Version 59.0.3071.115 (Official Build) (64-bit) for Windows 7 Professional.
