Recommended system requirements
For those seeking the most straightforward set-up and best support from the community, we recommend you adopt the following for your installation/user spec.
Note: this page is only relevant for the Adapt authoring tool web-application. For the system requirements for the course output, see this document.
The 'server application' here references the part of the authoring tool which is installed on a single central server, and drives the data layer of the application.
- Modern, unix-based operating system (e.g. Ubuntu, Mac OS X)
- Node.js Active LTS & associated NPM (currently v10.x)
- MongoDB 4.x
There are no special requirements for hardware, just that it support the above.
The 'front-end web application' here refers to the web-based user interface the end user will experience.
- Modern, with good support for HTML5 features (preferably evergreen):
- Google Chrome
- Mozilla Firefox (latest)
- Microsoft Edge
- The authoring tool currently has no support for mobile devices
