h2. distro11s-0.01

distro11s is a quick and dirty, ephemeral linux distribution that contains all you need to get started as a mesh hacker. Here are the relevant changes:

h2. CHANGES

  • See the README for more details on what distro11s can do for you. Pay close attention to the step where you configure distro11s to build for your desired target.

  • qemu and zotac "boards" are supported.

  • Automated fetching of all source packages with ./scripts/fetch.sh

  • Automated build of all source packages with ./scritps/build.sh

  • Force a specific package to rebuild with FORCE_BUILD=1 ./scripts/mypackage.sh. Handy.

  • Launch qemu easily by invoking board/qemu/qemu.sh

  • Run the hwsim test suite by launching qemu and invoking /usr/local/share/hwsim_tests/runall.sh

h2. KNOWN ISSUES

  • Many libraries are in /usr/local/lib. But that's not in the default ld path. So you must export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/lib for anything to work.

  • The provisioning script doesn't work with gnu-fdisk. If you have gnu fdisk, remove it like so: $ sudo apt-get remove gnu-fdisk

  • After booting qemu, if you expect the hwsim tests to run, you must create an ssh key with no password and add it to /root's authorized_keys:

$ ssh-keygen $ cat /root/.ssh/id_rsa.pub >> /root/.ssh/authorized_keys
  • The host name is not set correctly for any target. To alter it, you must edit /etc/hostname and reboot.

  • The release build configures a static IP for eth0. If it is not the static IP that you want, you must edit /etc/network/interfaces.
