• The change looks safe
• I guess it's nice as it reduces the gap with Base UI tabs API, which will progressively take over Material UI's API https://mui.com/base-ui/react-tabs/components-api/#tabs-prop-value
• In Base UI, we could widen the value type to support any value, it uses Map and Set, so it doesn't seem limited to keys that can be stringified like the current Material UI Tabs implementation or to be used as a DOM attribute. I saw that recently bigint was added in the React key prop [react] Add support for BigInt in key DefinitelyTyped/DefinitelyTyped#66723.
