Bug Description

Long time user, windows 11, AMD 7, USBPnP audio device. Mixxx blocks all other sound apps like Audicity and VLC from playing when open. if that is a requirement then perhaps only lock it when in a "Live or auto DJ mode". These other programs are essential to Preparing for DJ gig by editing songs and listening to a large files of songs quickly which can't be done on Mixxx. I must close Mixxx in order to work with a file. This didn't used to be a problem. Under speaker properties both exclusive Mode box's must be check for Mix to work. if left uncheck Audacity and VLC work yet Mixxx is silent.

Version

2.3.6

OS

Win 11

Interesting, which Sound API do you use?

For my understanding the exclusive mode offers the shortest possible latency. But the shared mode should also work.

To keep latency at a minimum and also use System sound, there might be a solution to pipe it into Mixxx as Aux. We never managed to make this work out of the box, but a solution is very welcome.

It looks like we need to make use of his Portaudio 19.7 API:
