Hi
Thanks for your response. Yes, I understand there is no "stats only"
option. However, when I force a defrag on a few problematic tables by
using a job with very low frag rate in the Adaptive Defrag (ADf) settings,
no stats are updating upon completion of the defrag, regardless of the ADf
settings I have tested to force a stats update post-defrag.
My problem is that I have a few large tables (8-14 mil rows) and once the
change rate reaches about .03 percent, queries against those tables
completely tank. I need sample rates on these tables of at least 10
percent on these tables to correct this issue. No matter what settings I
have attempted, I can not get the stats to update using ADf post-defrag.
Or when they do update, they fall back to the MS algorithm and I end up
with a sample rate of .002 percent.
Right now, it is not possible to update statistics only, without also defragging indexes.
