Helper Scripts: Error [object Promise]

I'm trying to create a helper script to clean up some of my scripts. I've created the following script "convert_to_binary_16:

I'm stuck with the return of the helper function being [object Promise]. Any support to understand how to solve this would be greatly appreciated.

Which is called by another script "FAGasSensor_FACageWall_Status_Test"

When I test the script I see the following test output, the value returned from my helper script is reporting as [object Promise].

Modifying the script to embed the function within the script works as expected. Modified script
