fine I guess. Think you could have also used ftell, however that's mapped into Python, but going to the filesystem should be OK..

Yeah, I mean we could likely even get that from the thumbnail source, but didn't want to make big changes.

Fixes up element-hq#17239 We need to keep the spam check within the `try/except` block. Also makes it so that we don't enter the top span twice. Also also ensures that we get the right thumbnail length.
