MongoDB Count

Here we will learn how to count the number of documents that meet certain criteria.
Use the parrots collection to count all documents where age is greater than the first argument passed to your script.
Using console.log, print the number to stdout.
To count the number of documents meeting certain criteria, we must use the collection.count() function.
Here is an example:
collection.count({
name: 'foo'
}, function(err, count) {
})
If your program does not finish executing, you may have forgotten to close the db. That can be done by calling db.close()
after you have finished.
var mongo = require('mongodb').MongoClient;
var url = 'mongodb://localhost:27017/learnyoumongo';
mongo.connect(url, function(err, db) {
if (err) throw err;
var collection = db.collection('parrots');
collection.count({
age: {
// greater than integer
$gt: parseInt(process.argv[2])
}
}, function(err, count) {
if (err) throw err;
console.log(count);
db.close();
})
})
var mongo = require('mongodb').MongoClient
var age = process.argv[2]
var url = 'mongodb://localhost:27017/learnyoumongo'
mongo.connect(url, function(err, db) {
if (err) throw err
var parrots = db.collection('parrots')
parrots.count({
age: {
$gt: +age
}
}, function(err, count) {
if (err) throw err
console.log(count)
db.close()
})
})
