crafting SnowLayer reverts back to snow blocks

Hi, using the head of the master branch. When I craft SnowLayer from snow blocks it seems initially successful but when placing the snow layer it immediately reverts back to 3 snow blocks in my inventory. Sometimes this happens while still on the crafting table or the new snow layer just disappears right then and I have to leave the table to see my initial snow blocks again.

Is there anything I can do to help debug this?

Thank you, can't believe I missed that. I assumed it was related to another problem I'm seeing. (Will post about that later).
