RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication" and is a way to share content from one site (in this case, Growstuff) to another site or application.

What RSS feeds are available?

Replace OWNER_ID/AUTHOR_ID with the owner's name as seen in their member profile URL -- usually a lowercase version of the name, eg. "SaLLy" becomes "sally". You can also use a numeric ID if you happen to know it (for instance from using the API).

What?	Webpage	RSS feed	RSS feed by owner
Crops	http://growstuff.org/crops	http://growstuff.org/crops	n/a
Plantings	http://growstuff.org/plantings	http://growstuff.org/plantings.rss	http://growstuff.org/plantings/owner/OWNER_ID.rss
Seeds	http://growstuff.org/seeds	http://growstuff.org/seeds.rss	http://growstuff.org/seeds/owner/OWNER_ID.rss
Posts	http://growstuff.org/posts	http://growstuff.org/posts.rss	http://growstuff.org/posts/author/AUTHOR_ID.rss
Comments	http://growstuff.org/comments	http://growstuff.org/comments.rss	not yet available

How can you use RSS feeds?

  • Subscribe to them in a feed reader such as Feedly or Newsblur.
  • Use a "glue" application like If This, Then That to repost Growstuff activity to other services (Twitter, Facebook, etc)
  • Put them in your Wordpress blog's sidebar using this widget (or various other RSS widgets/plugins)
  • Send them to your phone as text messages
  • Got other uses? Add them!
