Extend the default formatting templates or disable unwanted ones

I'm struggling on what's the nicest way to do the form formatting templating.
On the one hand I want to prevent the end user to use the wrong template (selecting for example tailwind instead of bootstrap) but on the other hand I would like to use the defaults to easily keep up with the latest updates.

Maybe make it possible to extend/embed the default templates so you can create a custom template with just one line to have it working in combination with the "Include Freeform's Sample Formatting Templates"?
or
An option to select which default templates you want to show?

Or any other suggestions on how to tackle this?
