Update User Groups and Element Connection Conditionals

I would like the ability to process an integration if only certain conditions are matched. For instance if a field equals a particular value adding a user to a group... additionally I would like it so that a users groups can be additive. Right now it appears that processing an element connection with a user update doesn't save the groups at all. Thanks!
