Header

This kind of a product header (hero) shows quickly what 50 Percent is about. Previously this info was a bit buried in the sidebar among other content.

The 2 most important points "Browse events" and "More info" are linked directly as buttons.

Two other functions are "Search" and "Add event" which are a bit more advanced though. They will both for sure be in the navigation. And we could also list them in-between events as "interstitials".

Navigation

We have 2 main options with the navigation:

  • Just display it directly on the top and keep it fixed the whole time
  • Do not display it immediately, and only show it shen you scroll up again

Entries in the navigation:

  • 50 Percent (logo, probably without "sind die Hälfte"?)
  • 🔍 Search as box
  • ➕ Add event
  • ℹ️ About
  • 🔤 Language switcher
  • We can have a "●●● More" menu with additional entries like:
    • 🐦 @haelfte
    • 👩 Speakerinnen
    • 📑 Privacy policy
    • 📜 Imprint
    • GitHub …

Action sections

To hint at further info like the #50percent hashtag, adding events, the Github repository etc we can have sections breaking up the list of events which show you different ways to interact with 50 Percent.

As a whole, we feel this appropriately replaces the sidebar content. We should have a separate issue about how we deal with the tags. We like a lot how you did that for Speakerinnen, grouping the mass of tags into categories, so this could be a solution here too.

Oh and one thing we forgot: The statistics which are currently at the top of the sidebar would also be something that could be added to the coloured sections on the main page, if needed also having a separate page for them (or adding them to the about page as well).
