See screenshot.

../blog is a folder containing some news items and a collection as default view.

The toolbar 'display' shows a very long list of display options for the folder and the collection.
There is major usability flaw:

  • list of options to long and ungrouped
  • the semantics of the icons is not really helpful (blue vs. grey dots, green vs grey checkboxes)
  • it is hard to figure out that the folder uses a contained item as default view

I think this is a duplicate of "Toolbar: commonly used menu items too hard to get to or not where you expect" - #482 - which generally deals with toolbar layout and dealing with too many items in the toplevel of the toolbar and sublevels.

Some of the proposed solutions on #704 ("Not obvious display menu changes item or preview change") could help with this.
