Hi, your addon give a hand on the requirement of some people, thank you.
But here I report a problem : It runs smoothly when i use single mode, so both my subtitles files should have no problem .but when I use daul mode, the touble occurs as soon as i chose the second subtitle file. the error message said "'ascii' codec can't encode character '\uff5c' in position 70: ordinal not in range(128)"
The unicode '\uff5c' stands for 'Fullwidth Vertical Line'. Please refer to 'https://www.fileformat.info/info/charset/GB2312/list.htm'
I did the reproducibility test 8 times ,everyime the error came out. maybe the program does not parse some unicode in file name well?
I found similar problem on a github project,It might be useful for your troubleshooting.
I tried both of your subtitles and I have no problems with it. I tried with kodi 21 RC2 on a windows system.
The transcoding of the unicode characters is done via a standard library and maybe that gives a problem on your OS or kodi version. It also depends on the character set you have chosen in the dualsubtitles addon settings. For both subtitles there is the option Character set. What have you chosen there? I have tried Auto and Auto Charset_normalizer. Maybe you can try to change that.
