Note that it takes quite a long time in the demo because the checkpoint is very old, but that's unrelated to the root problem.

I can't reproduce now. It's completely unclear to me what could cause this. Maybe #3018 fixed it, I'm not sure.

I also can't reproduce with smoldot v0.7.7, which is the version used by substrate-connect. Substrate-connect unfortunately suffers from connectivity issues.
