multiple ActiveDirectory domains for authentication

We have several AD domains in use in which users are maintained. These users should be able to log on to Netbox.
What needs to be adapted so that several LDAP backends are queried, as it looks to me as if netbox only supports one LDAP backend.
It is not clear to me how the customization recommended here (https://django-auth-ldap.readthedocs.io/en/latest/multiconfig.html) is supposed to work.
