Trigger Event Rule by Custom Script

Hi,

i have a custom script (which is triggered by an update of a custom field choice set) which creates a VLAN Group for example.
I also have an event rule for vlan groups which should execute a custom script when a vlan group is created or updated.

But this last event rule is not triggered if the VLAN Group is created by my custom script. If i create the VLAN Group manually the event rule works.

Is this by design, a bug oder am i missing anything?
