When starting VIM I see the message "E1187: Failed to source defaults.vim". It is a nag in that pressing Enter continues, but un-necessary.
One fix is to change the /system/bin/vim script to add -C: (the -C = compatibility and makes vim act more like vi, also removes the nag message.)
TERMINFO=$dir/../etc/terminfo TERM=$term $dir/vim.bin -C "$@";
