App quietly fails to show details and play media on v18

Describe the bug

For the record, downgrading to v17.9 fixed the issue, so I'm pretty sure it has something to do with verions >18. I got automatically updated by the google play store, and couldn't figure out what was going on, so enabled SMB and then uploaded the 17.9 apk to downgrade.

App opens fine, shows media fine, but trying to click on a particular item (such as a tv show episode) briefly flashes as if it's going to show you the item, and then returns right back to where you were at.

Playing music behaves slightly differently, all the items play instantly, as if they were length 0, but do still show the full timestamp as they do.

This is all happening on a Nvidia Shield. SW Version 9.11(33.2.0.157)
