Coursera uses localization and change language #11
Comments
I have the same issue; I would like to see coursera in English, but instead it seems to grab my IP in Spain and display the web on spanish, and to have default preferences in courses in spanish. Not cool. |
Same issue! I am living in Spain and cannot change the language. Utterly annoying I must say. |
Change the default language of your browser! I am living in China and Coursera changes its language to English after I change the order of default language in Chrome. Hope this helps. |
Same issue, I come from Vietnam but Coursera dislayed in French (wtf). Also changing browser's interface didn't work for me. Mine is in Japanese but it's still French in Coursera. |
You just need to go to language setting of your browser and remove the language that you don't want it to show up |
It worked! Thank you @Ngoctumc . |
I still think it's an error that I have to re-configure my browser (which I may not want to) while there is a language in Coursera settings. |
When I signed up for course it asked me to verify my name in order to provide me with certification after completion. After following the link there was an option to change a language. It worked after selecting English. I checked out my chrome browser settings it is set for a Russian as well as my google account. So in my case there was no any relation to browser language settings. |
I fixed script to use actual browser, not headless. Now you can sign in yourself |
Hi!
Thank you for creating this.
I am located at Spain, and Coursera seems to detect user IP localization so for instance, instead of "Log In" uses "Iniciar Sesión" to get credentials. Or "Mis Cursos" instead of "My Courses"
I have change those sentences so the script works for me. I wonder if there is any possibility to configure phantomjs to force Coursera to use English.
