File Size Still an Issue

First, I fully acknowledge firebase is an outstanding product. It is class leading and a huge benefit for developers. It's so close to being perfect. I know this discussion has been going on since 2017, but the bundle is still incredibly large, even with tree shaking. Simply installing auth in my next app took my performance score on lighthouse from 100 to 78. I'm a bit ocd and don't want my scores out of the green. Are there any detailed tutorials on using the rest API? I don't mind writing a bit more code and losing convenience if I can ditch this bundle and still use firebase. I absolutely love firebase, but the performance loss is unacceptable for my quality standards.
