Unable to set landing page

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Use the following root toc (resource: DocFX page) to set a markdown doc in a nested folder as the home page for localhost:8080. My understanding is that the root toc.yml generates the top nav bar, and nested toc.ymls generate the vertical left bar. Combining them doesn't seem like a good idea.

2. Here's the nested /tsgs/toc.yml:

Expected Behavior:

Should see the Markdown article specified by the topicHref as the landing page.

Actual Behavior:

I get an index listing:

Your index page will normally be at the root, what is the folder structure of your output?

Here's the _site folder content:

The index.html is that index page instead of the topicHref doc.

I may be wrong, but my understanding, topicHref does not define the landing page.

By the docs
If homepage topicHref is set for this TOC Item, it will be considered as the href of the expanded TOC Item.

If the Toc Item is linking to a folder, ending with / explicitly, the link value for the Toc Item is determined in the following steps:

1. If homepage topicHref or homepageUid topicUid is set, the link value is resolved to the relative path to homepage topicHref
2. If homepage topicHref or homepageUid topicUid is not set, DocFX searches for Toc File under the folder, and get the first relative link to local file as the link value for current Toc Item. For example, if the Toc Item is href: article/, and the content of article/toc.yml is as follows:

Thanks Paul, but what I want is to have localhost:8080 show me the left side nav bar and in the home page in the content area. I can rewrite the tocs as needed, I just need someone experienced with DocFx to set me on the right track. Showing the home page would seem like a common scenario.

I also tested the following root toc, but that also failed to show the specified landing page.

I want the same thing. To land directly on my 'getting started' page, with the left side-bar showing all the other pages.

To land directly on an arbitrary page, you can add an index.md file in the root folder with content like this:
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0; url='somefolder/somepage.html'" />

Or use the redirect_url metadata to set the redirection in index.md.

but how on Earth do we change the default page? I mean I don't want it to look like this

I want to have my own custom page? Anyone know how to do this?
