usbipd: error: unable to run 'usbip' client tool #987

Hi
I already know my os version is outdated, but this is what we use at work :(

OS Name: Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise
OS Version: 10.0.19044 N/A Build 19044

I run Debian 12 on WSL2 with the newest self compiled linux kernel 6.1.21.2.
The only thing is that the WSL version is so old it does not have the --version option and updating it is currently not possible.
Came from #915 but no solution to my problem is given.
Is there anything that can be done?

This error is reported when usbipd-win tries to run the usbip client tool that should have been mounted by now.

Do the attach as before, until it gives this error. At that point, what is the output of the following commands on WSL?

mount
ls /run/usbipd-win/

no output for ls

solved the problem by going back to version 3.2.0

Your Windows (10) version is old, but not too old for usbipd-win (the Server edition of that build is still supported).

This should work with 4.2.0 as well. And I wonder why it isn't.

https://github.com/dorssel/usbipd-win/blob/v4.2.0/Usbipd/Wsl.cs#L339 logs your warning; that is after the mountpoint should have been created. But your mount output does not show it. So, something is going wrong with mounting the usbipd-win WSL directory within WSL. In fact, it looks like the mounting directory was not even created...
