Describe the bug
Recording the screen when using HDR produces a darker image than what is actually on the display. Hard to explain without screenshots. This is using the direct screen capture, not the desktop portal.

To Reproduce
Record the screen on KDE while using HDR

Screenshots

Screen recording of the same image:

The colors also seem more saturated, which is weird.

Desktop (please complete the following information):

  • X11 or Wayland: Wayland

  • Desktop environment/Window Manager: KDE Plasma

  • Distro: Arch Linux

  • GPU: 7900 GRE

  • Version (latest flatpak version, aur or source): AUR

  • I played the video with the command mpv --no-config video.mp4 (if applicable)

  • I use a laptop with an integrated GPU and a dedicated GPU

Hmm it seems like a recent change in ffmpeg, kde plasma or the amd driver has messed it up. I'll look into it.

I tried an older version of gpu screen recorder and ffmpeg and it's incorrect there as well, but I do remember it working. Im not sure what has changed. I know how to fix it but if I cant figure out why it stopped working then im not sure if the fix will work for everybody. I'll have to see if it works on nvidia.

I think this is the same issue: LizardByte/Sunshine#3298 (comment) seems like kde plasma 6.2 broke it.
Desktop portal doesn't support hdr either so it seems like there is no proper (fully guaranteed way) to capture hdr on kde plasma right now..

Damn, why would they not care about breaking kmsgrab when there's no alternative right now?
