In order to protect the privacy of Fediverse users, it would be great to implement the following improvements:
Replace any twitter tracking link by the final link. The same goes for any short link in the original tweet. That is the most transparent and maybe the most important thing for the end user.
Replace youtube videos links by a link to an Invidious instance. Again it'd be better to pick a different instance than the official one: https://github.com/omarroth/invidious/wiki/Invidious-Instances. The current issue is the stability, most of them are blocked frequently.
This would reduce tracking, allow people who don't know about Nitter and Invidious to be protected by default, and also reduce the amount of data transported across the network and maybe reduce page loading time.

I have no idea how stable nitter instances will be in the long term. I'm considering having a nitter/invidious redirector service running together with my mastodon instance to make sure links will still be functionnal in the future.
