Original issue 68 created by brazilofmux on 2006-09-09T05:20:21.000Z:
On Fri Aug 25 16:02:25 2006, Mouse suggeste:
I'd like to recommend a new power - maybe called "archive" - that would
allow that specific player to be immune from mail expiration without having
to set each message safe.
On Fri Aug 25 16:05:19 2006, Ashen-Shugar added:
Only if you can put a cap on the maximum number of messages a person can
receive, because most likely anyone set with this will never delete mail.
On Fri Aug 25 16:06:32 2006, Brazil added:
Seems reasonable, but instead of 'archive', let's think of something else.
That name seems overused. How about 'librarian' or 'nomailexp'?
On Fri Aug 25 16:09:26 2006, Ronan added:
As an alternative, '@amail me = @mail/safe [mail()]' works to set all
incoming mail safe (as long as you're in the main mail folder. This what I
recommend my staff use to avoid mail expiration.
On Fri Aug 25 16:12:13 2006, Draken-Korin added:
So, if you're going to add such a power, safemail might be a good name.
On Fri Aug 25 16:14:39 2006, Brazil added:
Dare I suggest four new configuration options...two for warning that @mail
size for a player is larger than X (one for safemail and one for safemail),
and likewise two configuration options for absolute maximum sizes beyond
which new @mail is not accepted?
On Fri Aug 25 16:20:21 2006, Draken-Korin added:
mailsize_warn, mailsize_safe_warn, mailsize_max, mailsize_safe_max? It'd be
a good idea. Does that mean there would be another power in addition to
safemail, like unlimmail, to bypass mail size limits?
On Fri Aug 25 16:24:14 2006, Brazil added:
You like seeing how far you can push Ash, don'cha, DK? :)
On Fri Aug 25 16:56:08 2006, Ashen-Shugar added:
laugh Actually, the naming convention already matches what's in Rhost. We
have mailsize_max, and @smailsize (attribute to specify maximum messages
you can mark 'safe'), but no warnings per say when someone approaches max
mail. That's actually a good idea and I may borrow for Rhost. We call the
deleting of mail 'autoexpiring' so you can probably call the disabling of
this 'noexpire' if you want as a flag. In Rhost, we use a 'mailtime'
attribute so you can specify exactly how long before mail is expired
individually per player. Up to you how you want things done, Brazil. :)
