The goal of this group is to improve the user experience and user interface of the open source Declarative Lookup Rollup Summaries tool.

Community Feedback

Use Cases

  • Counting
  • Monitoring
  • Complex rollups and aggregation
  • Attendance
  • "Most recent record"

Positives

  • Free
  • Flexibility, can roll up any object with lookup relationships
  • Can be deployed by change sets
  • Easy-to-use
  • Writes test classes
  • Concatenates fields
  • Fills functionality gap of Salesforce (including rollup fields and NPSP)
  • Relative date filters ("THIS MONTH")

Problems

  • Run into Apex limits
  • Hard to write SOQL
  • Sometimes doesn't work well with formula fields
  • Hard to install
  • Sometimes doesn't play nice with NPSP
  • Learning curve
  • Hard to know when new version is out

Potential Improvements

  • Add Clone button to Manage Lookup Rollup Summaries (MLRS) page
  • Make errors and logs more user friendly
  • Add help text in Lightning (MLRS)
  • Describe run modes more thoroughly (MLRS)
  • Possibly create a wizard with validations when deploying (MLRS)
  • Ability to sort DLRS's by something other than API name on (MLRS)
  • Way to chain transactions together
  • Add SOQL wizard (MLRS)
  • Add picker that populates API names (MLRS)

Meeting Log

October 25 2021

Notes

During the virtual sprint last week, we had a focus group on UX/UI and also conducted a general DLRS survey.

The survey time frame will last until October 31st 2021.

Today, Vicki and Melanie met with Cori to discuss next steps.

Next Steps

  • We are recruiting participants from the survey who expressed interest. We are leaning towards finding participants for UX/UI but also helping to recruit for other areas such as development and marketing.
  • Attend developer office hour to start prioritizing functionality.

Team

  • Melanie
  • Vicki
  • David

Misc. Notes

  • Cori has offered help with UX/UI wireframing from the Salesforce team (pro bono support).
