I think I made this work.
I added mouseover and mouseout handlers to the bars in graph.js so that if the bar is longer than the text, the amount is drawn in white on the left part of the bar, and if the bar is shorter, the text is drawn in brown to the right. The amount is formatted like "$1,000.00."
Is this what you were looking for, and if so, may I make a pull request? (I am new to Github.)
