I hope you are well! I tried to look for comments similar to this one and did not find any. I was thinking about the possibility of replacing Stripe with Liberapay (which is open source as well) and which also includes payments through Stripe and Paypal, however, within its platform it does not contain trackers. Could there be such a possibility? I think so because many times (not in all cases, clearly) we look for open source alternatives that also take care of the privacy of their users. I'm not saying that this is not the case, I really like Glimesh, just that seeing so many Stripe trackers, makes me a bit unconfortable. I feel it's a platform with a lot of potential, because it really has everything you need to create communities, it's just the trackers.
I hope my comment didn't sound bad or like a demand, it's just an opinion.
Thanks for all the work you are doing and for the great contribution you are making to the open source communities.
Regards!

The business / billing / support benefits of using Stripe are pretty large. I agree the privacy loss is unfortunate, but I'm not sure Liberapay provides quite enough of what we need for recurring subscriptions directly to 3rd parties, one time donations, and gift subscriptions.
Additionally, it appears that Liberapay actually uses Stripe & Paypal for processing, so I'm not sure the benefit would be large enough.

I understand. Maybe you could do something like what they proposed at: #634
I habitually use "uBlock Origin" and "Privacy Badger" and they always detect Stripe cookies/trackers. I think they could be avoided unless one performs a payment or action linked to Stripe.
Hopefully it is possible, it seems to me that Glimesh is the only "real alternative" (and better) to the proprietary ones.
